Kribi 3D Player |
Ver. 3.12 12/07/2012 |
|
On the last
release 3.11 we reached an important milestone on the
optimization of the Kribi 3D real time rendering Engine by
increasing the average speed on the 15%, while on this
release some rendering leaks have been fixed and improved to
get images of higher quality and realism. |

ReflectionMapType
API Reference >>
For your reflection maps you can now choose between
two methods: sphere mapping (available in previous
versions) or cube mapping (new). For example you can
now use the same cubemap image for the background
and the reflections as shown in the image below: |

Enhanced Cast Shadows (#696) |
|
The
previous version was suffering from light leaks
(missing shadows) in some difficult cases. The
renderer now use a more robust method for computing
shadows, it fixes these issues and is now well
suited for scenes with distant light sources.

Enhanced Texture
Filtering (#694) |
|
The renderer
use a method known as "mipmapping" to combine good
image quality and fast rendering. The previous
version was using the same mipmap level for whole
polygons and unpleasant artifacts were sometimes
visible in scenes with big polygons covering a wide
range of distances. This was particularly annoying
with antialiasing turned off and when the camera was
moving rapidly in a model. The new version now use
the best suited mipmap level for each pixel of the
final image, it solves the previous issues and give
a better overall image quality with texture mapping.
