AVX2 Support(#716)
The renderer is now fully supporting Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions 2 instructions recently introduced in the 4th generation Intel® Core™ processors. The AVX2 optimizations provide a very good overall speedup: the rendering is now typically 40% to 50% faster (*1), depending on the 3D model and rendering mode. These new instructions are automatically used if they are available on the computer where the application is run.

*1: AVX2 code compared with the legacy SSE2 code running on the same 4th generation Intel® Core™ based hardware.

Direct2D Support (#713)
Even that the rendering is achieved entirely in software on the CPU, the Kribi 3D engine must copy the final images to the graphic card (or integrated graphics) in order to display them. The previous versions of the Kribi 3D Player were using the aging Microsoft® GDI API to achieve this. Starting with this version, the more modern Microsoft® Direct2D API is used automatically if it is available on the computer where the application is run. Copying the images with Direct2D can be 2x faster or more than with GDI, depending on the configuration. It provides visibly smoother animations and a future-proof solution.
